Doomsday Machine

Cinematic Titanic's 2nd release.
color. Early 70s but feels more like 60s. Love this one. Though it is much better before the obviously newly shot footage.  The majority of this one is as classic and funny as any episode of mst3k. Starting around 1 hour 13mins until the end 1:25 it’s different footage, different actors disguised by helmets, and different voices. As funny as that sounds, it’s kind of a brick wall. Those last 12 minutes are like slow motion. But it’s still a fav and damned funny overall. Rewatch December 23, 2020.  So most of this was filmed in 1967 and set in futuristic 1975. But some it was filmed in 1972. I think it’s just the last part filmed later. I’m watching the “cinema edition” where some guy removed the Riffers so it looks like Rifftrax. Anyway, 14mins in and it’s good stuff.  Switched back to regular Titanic version. Neither is widescreen and the picture and audio quality is not good enough to warrant the other version. 48mins in, and still think it’s easily top tier stuff.  Earth just exploded.  This reminds me a little of The Time Travelers b/c both feature annoying Dannys. Bobby Van in this one.  Oh boy...I’ve hit those last 12 minutes. It’s supposed to be Bobby Van and a Russian astronaut woman, but it’s 2 totally different people in full space suits moving in slow motion. I don’t think the movie ever returns to the main crew on the main spaceship. Wait! They do. Radio communication. This is real tedious.  That finally lumbered to an unsatisfying conclusion. But a top tier one.
