Winterbeast

Winterbeast (color, Rifftrax, 1992—looks like 70s).  The movie does all the work in this one. I’m 34mins in and it’s only an hour 6 minutes long.  It’s funny, but riffs are just acknowledging what is happening on screen mostly.  So nothing clever but it’s working because movie is nuts. Plot is, I think, hikers are disappearing and mustache cop and his buddies sunglasses guy and bad haircut guy think everything should close until the murders are solved, but this one weird, oddly dressed angry man wants stuff the stay open and he runs the Wild Goose lodge. It’s the typical "Jaws" plotline: close the beaches! But there’s weird claymation stuff going on too. And some Native American curse maybe? Some of the yelling is really funny.  Every time the weird guy in the plaid coat is on it’s funny. That guy just yells. He gets super angry really fast!  Ok, well I guess the weird guy who won’t close the lodge is … I don’t know but he’s fondling a dead girl...and putting on music and lip-syncing to it.  Is he the winterbeast? Ok…this music is annoying. I cannot believe how long this is going. There’s a Norman Bates sort of vibe as the weird plaid guy has been wearing a clown mask and dancing around several decomposing bodies, propped up Norma Bates style in his lodge. This scene has been going quite some time. There’s mustache cop and bad haircut guy in the lodge, with a spear that is a literal Mardi Gras throw-- bamboo, feathers and a rubber tip. Wait. 48mins in there’s a cut to skull busting out of a guy's chest, like in alien. They showed this in an incomprehensible bunch of scenes at the start, so it’s a flashback. I forgot there’s some sorta Native American backstory. Honey belts. Wtf. Wow. Well, there are some good riffs, but it’s the movie, like Godmonster, that is just good old batshit crazy.  I’m going put this in the top tier!
