In The Line Of Duty II: The Supercops. (Color, 1974, Rifftrax) I’ve gotten 22mins in. It’s pretty fun so far for what it is. It’s shot in Hong Kong starring young Michelle Yeoh. Cynthia Rothrock hasn’t shown up yet. All nonstop action so far. Silly, bad dubbing, but fun and the riffing is about the same. Here’s what I think the plot is so far: a guy has microfilm of something and he’s blackmailing a big crime boss. The boss sends guy to kill him and get microfilm back. He kills him but before he gets stuff back, two bumbling idiot thieves accidentally steal it along with guys wallet and passport, not even knowing guy was dead or that microfilm was hidden in passport. They sell stuff and passport to a guy names Fingers. Fingers does lots of ID forgery. Meanwhile the local police with Michelle Yeoh seemingly kinda in charge have discovered the body, in hotel room, and are told Scotland Yard are involved and sending an agent, which will be Rothrock dubbed with a British accent. That’s the first 22mins of the 1:18min movie. Also in opening car chase I think I saw someone’s spine and or pelvis being broken, as they do a flying kick through a car windshield all the way into the car up to the rib cage. Not smoothly. Rothrock has arrived! Airport fight! This is a fun one—though not sure the riffs are doing anything. Nothing has actively been bad in riffing dept—no Nick Nolte or especially cringy stuff, but can’t remember a funny moment either. It’s a pretty fun movie on its own, in its genre. It’s like the most fun episode of Cagney and Lacy ever made. Wow, terrible ending. But overall I liked this a lot. I know Honor and Glory was another similar one and that was pretty good too. It’s hard to know where to rank one that is fun, but not overly funny. I guess I will say second tier, but it’s as rewatchable as a lot of top tier ones.
