Reptilicus

The first episode of Season 11.
This episode is known more for the song "Every Country Has a Monster" than the movie riffing.
color, 60s. Mst1101. watching it divorced of the pressure and scrutiny it was originally under. Quite good. Prince reference, Bob Newhart reference. Gypsy adds nothing, but detracts little, so whatever. Woody Allen impression. Enjoying it a lot at first break. Mr Peterson guy, comic relief, looks like creepy rapey guy from Girl in Lovers Lane. Gillian’s Island riff. Monsters tv show. Love the Door is Ajar bit MacArthurs Park reference! It’s song time. Every Country Has A Monster. It is a good as you maybe heard. It’s just lots of fun. The movie is ridiculous. There’s a team drilling for copper—I guess that’s a thing? At least in Scandinavia. They find a frozen dinosaur reptile. Once it’s in a lab for study it starts to grow, etc, etc. The American General just showed up. He’s such a stock character. 2nd Prince reference! (Little red corvette was 1st, starfish and coffee 2nd!) The comic relief is painful, in the movie. Reptilicus seems filmed on different film grain. It’s like he’s in a different movie.  Reptilicus shoots something green from his mouth. Tom flying also added nothing really. The riffs seem to get denser and denser as it goes along. That isn’t an especially good thing. Its trying a little too hard. Still, A very good episode  I skipped the entire open and went right into the movie.  It fell off toward the end, not the amount of jokes, but the amount of funny jokes. But it’s still a top tier episode for me, probably.
